Surrey jazz singer Linley Weir has built a reputation on the London jazz scene having performed at leading venues : Ronnie Scotts, The Pheasantry, 606 Club, The National Theatre and the Marlborough Jazz Festival as well as performing live on Jazz FM Radio. She has supported Soul Legend, Omar, MBE and Chart-Topping Jazz-Funk Band, Shakatak. Her stunning vocal and distinctive sound have thrilled Jazz audiences in Tokyo, Dubai and China.

With the mammoth success of English firebrand Adele, the door is now wide open for British female Jazz singers with soul power in their vocals. Originating from England, this Surrey jazz singer certainly has the singing chops to fill the void in market.

Linley’s signature contralto voice is sensitive – authentic – soulful – smoky and original. When Linley performs she is in her element, singing soul-inspired, modern jazz, that is not constrained by traditional genre boundaries. Her second album is scheduled for release in 2015 new EP available for free download now Please click here

She is bold and brassy, soft and sassy, hip and husky, Linley’s voice navigates through a range of styles. She is at the centre of this melange, as composer, arranger and conveyor. From the joyously swinging ‘I Saw Him Standing There’ (a brilliantly readapted Beatles tune) to the irresistible ‘A Certain Slant Of Light,’ her honesty shines through, unafraid to bare a little part of herself to each listener.

‘Softly as in a morning sunrise’, captures the listener immediately: the beautifully understated ‘Desires’ is sung with hushed intimacy. It absolutely left me wanting more.

A beautiful deep and rich voice.
